Welcome

On behalf of the OEF/OIF/OND Program staff at VA Illiana Health Care System, thank you for
your service to our country. At VA, we recognize and thank you for the sacrifice you and
your family made during your service. Now that you are home, you are looking at a
new chapter and figuring out what the next step will be. Whatever your next step
(school, work, purchasing a home, starting a business) , look into VA services to
see how they may be able to  assist you on this next journey in your life.

Veterans who served on active duty in a theater of combat operations since
November 11, 1998 and have been discharged under other than dishonorable conditions
may be eligible for enhanced combat Veteran benefits through VA.  It is very important
to note that you have five years from your date of discharge to receive free
health care for any condition that may be related to your combat service.
If you are seen for non-combat related conditions during these five years,
you may have co-payments. If you establish services after the five years,
access to VA health care services may depend on military history, factors,
and/or household income. Co-payment status may depend on whether your illness
or injury is found to be service-connected.
