Situation Update

As of Monday, June 15, 2020 3:56 PM CDT

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this unprecedented time. VA Illiana Health Care System (VAIHCS) has taken many steps to protect and care for our Veterans and staff throughout the unfolding COVID-19 pandemic. This included postponing most non-urgent care and services, implementing screening procedures, and restricting visitors.

VA is now moving forward with expanding select services at facilities across the country. VAIHCS is implementing a phased approach to expanding health care services while ensuring a safe environment.

On June 1, 2020, the main Danville facility began seeing a limited number of patients in-person, prioritized by clinical need for the following clinics: Audiology, Cardiology, Chiropractic, Gastroenterology, Infectious Disease, Interventional Pain, Nephrology, Ophthalmology, Nephrology, Optometry, Physical Rehabilitation, Podiatry, Prosthetics, Pulmonary, Urology and Wound Care.  Elective surgical procedures have also resumed.

On June 8, 2020, face to face primary care and limited dental appointments are offered at the Danville facility.

Our five community-based VA outpatient clinics began in-person primary care visits on June 8, 2020.

While VAIHCS is beginning to increase the volume of face-to-face visits, Veterans are reminded that walk-in clinics are not open at this time. Only patients with a confirmed scheduled appointment should present to the facility, unless they are experiencing an urgent medical issue. Veterans are also encouraged to present to the facility no earlier than 30 minutes before their scheduled appointment to assist in maintaining physical distancing. Additionally, only Veterans with scheduled appointments will be permitted inside the facility, unless a caregiver is required. Urgent medical and mental health care remains open and available.

If you are a Veteran patient who would like to be seen, please call 217-554-4444 to make an appointment beforehand.

We will continue to maximize personalized virtual care options like in-home telehealth (VA Video Connect) and telephone appointments to promote physical distancing and provide increased access to care regardless of geographic location.

As we welcome Veterans back, we will continue safety measures including, but not limited to, physical distancing, environmental cleaning recommendations outlined by the CDC, face coverings for all, and staff and Veteran screening for signs of COVID-19 infection
