Ms. Kelley Sermak, RN, MSHSA was appointed Associate Director, Patient Care Services on March 20, 2016. Ms. Sermak received her Associates Degree in Nursing from Lakeview College of Nursing, Danville, Illinois, Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Illinois, and a Master of Science Degree in Health Services Administration from the University of St. Francis, Joliet, Illinois.
Ms. Sermak began her nursing career in 1985 at United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville, Illinois. She began her VA career in 2003 at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, Illinois as a Performance Improvement Nurse. In 2008, she went to the VISN 11 Network office in Ann Arbor, MI as the Deputy, Quality Management Officer and went on to become the VISN Quality Management Officer. In 2013, Ms. Sermak went to the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center where she served as the Deputy, Associate Director of Patient Care Services. In 2015, she provided nursing leadership at the West Texas Health Care System, in Big Spring Texas, as the Acting, ADPCS. She also served as the Acting, Associate Director Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive at the Battle Creek VA.
Throughout Ms. Sermak’s career she has worked with all disciplines to improve the quality of patient care. She is proud of the opportunities she has had to coach and mentor nurses who are now in leadership positions. Ms. Sermak is involved in local and national Nursing Organizations.

Diana Carranza has served as the Associate Director of the VA Illiana Health Care System (VAIHCS) since February 6, 2006.
Ms. Carranza began her career as a Resident Engineer for the Office of Construction Management. She has worked at the VA West Roxbury, MA, St. Albans (Queens) N.Y., and East Orange, NJ. She worked in VA Central Office in Washington, DC as a Project Manager and Executive Assistant for the Office of Construction. She then served as Associate Chief Engineer at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System and as Chief Engineer at the VA San Francisco, CA before ultimately coming to Danville, IL.
Ms. Carranza is a native of San Antonio, Texas. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. Her coursework included Construction Management, Transportation engineering, and environmental engineering. Ms. Carranza received her Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL.
Ms. Carranza is a graduate of Leadership VA (1993), Healthcare Leadership Institute (2004), and Executive Career Field (2004a class). She is also a certified Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Chief of Staff
On December 10, 2017 Dr. Dean Shoucair was appointed as the Chief of Staff of the VA Illiana Health Care System. Dr. Shoucair is board certified in Occupational/Preventative/Environmental Medicine. Dr. Shoucair earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and has a BA undergraduate from the University of Michigan and a Master’s degree in public health from the medical college in of Wisconsin.
Dr. Shoucair is a U.S. Army Veteran of 34 years of combined active, reserve and National Guard service. He currently serves in the Illinois National Guard as a Colonel.

Acting Associate Director Patient Care/Nurse Executive
Mrs. Gordon was appointed Acting Associate Director Patient Care / Nurse Executive on July 16, 2018.
Mrs. Gordon has served as the Chief Nurse Operations/Acute and Ambulatory Care/Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) since August 1, 2010. She received her Nursing Diploma from Lakeview College of Nursing, Danville, Illinois, Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN and a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration from University of Illinois, Champaign, IL.
Mrs. Gordon began her nursing career in 1979 at Methodist Hospital of Indiana. She began her VA career in 2010 at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, Illinois as the Chief Nurse Operations/ Acute and Ambulatory Care/ Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs)
