On April 27, 2015 VA Illiana Health Care System engineers will close the front entrance to Building 58 for renovation to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access requirements. The entire area will be fenced off to isolate the area. The smoke shack on the east side of the front entrance will still be accessible from the East.

This improvement will eliminate safety issues for our Veterans. This entrance will be closed to all staff and Patients starting the morning of April 27, 2015 for approximately 90 days. A temporary ramp for handicap access will be available in the back of Building 58, at the Ambulance entrance.

All current parking behind Building 58 will be changed to “handicap parking only” to enhance handicapped access for our Veterans while the renovation is going on. The parking spaces of VAIHCS employees who currently have a parking space behind Building 58 will be changed to Handicap Parking during the renovation.

Signage will be posted to show access and parking information. Questions can be directed to Shayne Minton, Engineering Service at 4-5846.

Centrally located on the VA Illiana Health Care System Complex, Building 58 is one of VA’s signature historic buildings.
